Ministry of Finance seeks suggestions for Budget 2014

Together with REACH, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) is seeking feedback and suggestions relating to taxes and public spending for Budget 2014.  The feedback exercise will run from 22 November 2013 to 29 January 2014.

Singaporeans’ wish list for Budget 2012

Issues relating to eldercare, education and employment came up tops at a Pre-Budget 2012 Forum organised by REACH, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance.

Views of the public were sought on how the Government should prioritise its budget at the 90-minute dialogue chaired by Minister of State for Finance and Transport, Mrs Josephine Teo, and REACH Chairman, Dr Amy Khor.

Suggestions received include:

  • lowering the qualifying age for elderly subsidies at polyclinics
  • investing more in dementia care and caregiver training
  • providing more funding for preschool education and neighbourhood schools, and
  • reducing Singapore’s reliance on foreign workers.
