IRAS clarifies GST treatment of medical bills

3 June 2015

In response to recent forum queries on GST on medical bills, the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) has clarified that subsidised patients in public hospitals and polyclinics do not pay any GST.

GST on subsidised medical services by government-funded public hospitals and polyclinics is absorbed by the Government. GST on the goods and services provided by GST-registered private clinics, however is not absorbed by the Government.
